The initial game between Coastal Carolina and the University of South Carolina will take place locally on November 22, 2025, at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, SC as part of both teams’ regular season schedules.
The South Carolina Gamecocks football team earned the 13th spot in the preseason Associated Press (AP) Top 25 poll on August 11. This is the team’s first preseason ranking since 2014, garnering 667 points and zero first-place votes in the poll.
The Gamecocks are heavy favorites to beat Coastal Carolina University in the November contest.
If LaNorris Sellers, the quarterback for the Gamecocks, remains in good health, the University of South Carolina is expected to stay in the top 20 throughout the season, despite facing a challenging schedule.
Clemson, the state rival team of the Gamecocks, holds the number four spot in the preseason AP Top 25 college football ranking for the 2025 season. Additionally, they secured the fifth position in the FWAA-NFF Super 16 poll and are placed at number six in the preseason Coaches Poll.
One week after the Coastal Carolina game, South Carolina and Clemson will face off in the Palmetto Bowl at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, SC on Saturday, November 29th at noon. The game will be televised on either ABC or ESPN, as reported by The Palmetto Bowl.
