At 12:30 a.m. July 4th, a Myrtle Beach sanitation truck was burnt to a crisp without explanation say city employees. A Myrtle Beach Sanitation employee sent us the above photos, but did not explain why the truck was torched. We were also not informed who set the truck on fire.

The trucks cost around $230,000 each.

We have reached out to Myrtle Beach City Public Information Officer Mark Kruea to determine exactly what caused the action here.

EXPLANATION FROM MARK KRUEA

It happened overnight and apparently was electrical in nature.  I’m not aware of any suspicion about it at this time.

Thanks,
Mark

EMPLOYEES SAY DIFFERENTLY???

CORRECTION: An email was sent to our news team stating clearly the truck was burning overnight. Despite those who sent in the photos claiming the truck burned at 12:30 noon, it is clear the truck fire began just after midnight. The lit truck can visibly been seen burning.

What happened has not yet been officially released by the city of Myrtle Beach as of this publication. Hopefully, the city will release something official.
