Brittanee Drexel vanished in Myrtle Beach in April 2009.

Today, October 19th, Raymond Moody finally confessed to kidnapping, raping and murdering Drexel.

Drexel’s remains were found and later identified, May 2022, in a wooded area 2.5 miles from where her now confessed killer, Raymond Moody, had been living when Drexel disappeared 13 years ago while visiting Myrtle Beach.

Moody confessed this morning in a Georgetown, S.C. County Courtroom.

Today’s Courtroom was filled with emotion

13 years later, I found out the horrible, disgusting, senseless way she was murdered,” said Chad Drexel, Brittanee’s adoptive father addressing Moody in the courtroom. “Every part of my being wants to say and do something about that. But my heart knows that I will not, and Brittanee would not want me, to go to jail over that.

Drexel’s mother, Dawn Pleckan, also addressed Moody directly.

I am so glad my daughter was feisty, she fought back,” Pleckan said. “She fought for her life. We know now she scratched the hell out of your head, face and neck. You will forever carry the scars of what my daughter did to you, and I hope you are haunted by what you did to her.

Raymond Moody briefly addressed the court at the end of the hearing.

I was a monster, and I took Brittanee Drexel’s life,” he said. “I don’t have the words to express how horrible I feel and have felt since that day.

The State of South Carolina is recommending life in prison, without parole for Moody.
