In a largely expected move, Horry County Council approved the 3rd reading to develop the land in Bayboro owned by local Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Hotel operator Bobby Anderson.

This approval opens up the path now for rapid and accelerated growth in the rural areas along Highway 905, Highway 701, Highway 410, Old Nichols Highway and as far west at Little Pee Dee Road.

RURAL RESIDENT CHRIS STEVENS

Rural resident Chris Stevens made an articulate and impassioned argument against the measure. His plea did little to change the vote, however.

The mind of Horry County Council was made in advance.

Horry County can look for an increase in rural development despite the fact that the infrastructure to support that investment does not exist.
