MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. Sept. 4, 2024 โ€” The American Heart Association Beach Ride, will host the 43rd annual Beach Ride from Nov. 6 โ€“ 10 at Lakewood Camping Resort. The event will welcome over 1,000 horses and trail riders to Myrtle Beach.

The American Heart Association is a global force for longer, healthier lives.

The American Heart Association Beach Ride raises awareness that cardiovascular disease remains the No. 1 cause of death, claiming the lives of one out of every three Americans, while raising critical funds for research, education, and advocacy. The Association hopes to raise over $500,000 during the 2024 campaign.

โ€œThis unique event would not be possible without the support of our participants and the Myrtle Beach community,โ€ said Lindsay Pampani, director of the Beach Ride for the Association. โ€œThe hard work and dedication of our volunteers and fundraisers help us to provide funding for research and education year after year. Together we are working on creating a community of healthier people.โ€

While the 20-mile beach ride on Saturday is the main attraction, the five-day American Heart Association Beach Ride event includes a myriad of other activities, including a vendor village, costume parade, karaoke, silent auction, t-shirt contest, live music, and much more. Participants will also have the opportunity to join the Nation of Lifesavers by learning hands-only CPR. A Lifestyle Change Award will be given to an attendee who has made positive changes to improve their health and quality of life.ย

Local resident Kristina Barkhouser has attended the Beach Ride since 2013. โ€œFor many in the equine world, riding your horse on the beach is a dream come true. The Beach Ride offers this unique opportunity while fostering a sense of community.โ€ She continued, โ€œThe mission of the American Heart Association is very near and dear to many of us, and that is why we ride.โ€

There are still a few spots available for this yearโ€™s event.
