Tonight the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (7-1) face off against App State (5-3) in a dual of two Sun Belt Conference heavy weights.

The 7 and 1 season is a huge disappointment for Coastal, however. CCU lost a crushing homecoming game to Old Dominion in October. The NCAA is reluctant to rank any one loss Sun Belt team.

Despite having beaten number 5 ranked Texas A&M in Texas on September 10th, Mountaineer fans are disappointed with their three loss season. One key loss was at home to now 17th ranked University of North Carolina. UNC was able to pull of a high scoring, narrow 63 -61 win against App State in Boone, N.C. on September 3rd.

The game is a make or break game for both schools.

The game will be played on Coastal’s home field in Conway, S.C.

The game is considered a toss up with App State favored by a 3 point margin of victory. As College Football news writes:

There are problems when Appalachian State isn’t running wild.

It’s got the ability to throw, but that’s not how this all works. The 63-61 opener against North Carolina was a crazy outlier. The other two losses this season to James Madison and Texas State came when the ground game failed to get to 100 yards. Those happened to be the only two games all year the Mountaineers turned it over multiple times.

The game will be aired on ESPN.

Date: Tonight, Thursday, November 3
Game Time: 7:30 ET
Venue: Brooks Stadium, Conway, SC

The loser of this game is sure to consider 2022 a disappointing season. This game brings as much punch as any Sun Belt Conference game affords.
