NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Effective immediately, the Barefoot Commons Shopping Plaza Access Driveway, located off Windy Hill Extension behind Walgreens, will be closed for safety reasons. After a thorough evaluation, it has been determined that the driveway poses potential hazards for motorists.
With this being Horry County property, Horry County will be contracting professionals to conduct the necessary repairs and improvements. The timeline for repairs and the expected reopening date remains undetermined at this time.

The road’s construction has been under scrutiny since the time when Mark Lazaras, a former Horry County Council Chairman, oversaw its development.
The Barefoot Commons Shopping Plaza Access Driveway was adjacent to land Lazarus owned.
Said the City of North Myrtle Beach in a press release, “We understand the inconvenience this may cause and are committed to ensuring the safety of our community. Your patience during this process is greatly appreciated.”
