Memorial Weekend tourists vacationing in the City of Myrtle Beach were greeted today by one way traffic, high police presence, and barricades along Ocean Boulevard.

Over 300 out of the area police and patrolmen were called in this weekend.

Many of the thousands of black bikers, who are in town, chose to cruise Highway 17 rather than getting stuck in Ocean Boulevard traffic.

Several vacationers, who refused to go on camera, told MyrtleBeachSC News the barricades were offensive. Tourists said it sent an unwelcoming message.

Last night, Myrtle Beach Mayor Brenda Bethune warned City of Myrtle Beach tourists to behave or go to jail.

The City of Myrtle Beach has been in ongoing disputes with its Memorial Day tourists for more than a decade.

FEDERAL JURY FINDS CITY RACIST

As reported by the Atlanta Journal Constitution in December 2020: The city of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was motivated by race when it created a traffic plan designed to “suck the fun” out of Black Bike Week, a federal jury of five black and four white jurors found.

But the same jury sided against the black bikers, saying the city probably would have imposed the same plan anyway.

Traffic moved slow and was backed up on the one way street, but tourists appeared to take all that in stride.

The City of Myrtle Beach hotels are operating at full occupancy. “No vacancy” signs were commonly seen across town.
