Body of a missing woman buried in back yard of Myrtle Beach home

The body of a missing woman, Penni Whiteside, was found today buried in the the back yard of a downtown Myrtle Beach home.

Myrtle Beach Police reported the arrest of a man from South Carolina on Thursday morning in relation to a 2022 missing person and murder case. The arrest was posted on Facebook.

Sheridan Dirk Fogle, aged 54 and residing in Orangeburg, was taken into custody at approximately 7:30 a.m. on allegations of committing murder, as stated on the Myrtle Beach Police Facebook page post.

Body Of A Missing Woman

The arrest warrant was issued as a result of a missing person case and the initial incident that took place on May 11, 2022, in the 600 block of 1st Avenue South.

The arrest report stated that the identified victim had been living with the offender at the time of her disapperance.

Due to statements made by her neighbors, there was reason to believe that she may have been buried near the residence, in the backyard, under a fire pit.

Investigators executed a search warrant on June 12, 2024, leading to the recovery and identification of the victim’s remains.
