Sources connected to the concerns of Myrtle Beach sent out an anonymous threat letter to all advertisers of a popular local radio station.
“We have noticed that you advertise on WTKN, more specifically during the 9 a.m. hour on Saturday, when Chad Caton is on,” the unsigned, unnamed letter reads. “… He also needs to learn there can be repercussions to the words he uses,” the letter continues.
Chad Caton is a well followed, Horry County media personality. He broadcasts a weekly Facebook Livestream called I’M FIRED UP. The show has thousands of followers.
Caton is outspoken about all things politics. He is also highly entertaining.
This is certainly not the first attempt by those directly and indirectly connected to the City of Myrtle Beach using bully tactics to silence their many critics.
When I went on the radio station to defend MyrtleBeachSC news concerning remarks made by Mayor Brenda Bethune about our reporting. The comments followed as below.
This concerning an article we published here: https://myrtlebeachsc.com/publisher-sets-record-straight-on-mayor-bet
Bethune refused to appear on the show.
Letter sent to advertisers
Do intimidation tactics like these work? Chad Caton continues to broadcast with the full support of the station. Caton also continues to be as popular as ever.
