Information provided by the U.S. Census Bureau shows that the greater Myrtle Beach metropolitan area was the third fastest growing in America from July 1, 2020 to July 1, 2021.

Census data shows that while over two-thirds of the nation’s counties had natural decrease in 2021, Horry County’s population grew.

The Census Bureau report states: COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on births and deaths resulted in a record number of counties experiencing a natural decrease.

Top Ten Metros

Saint George, Utah experienced the greatest population increase with 5.1% growth.

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho grew at 4.1%. Horry County to Brunswick N.C. grew at 3.7%.

Myrtle Beach weather was listed as a key determinant in these population shifts. Myrtle Beach Hotels also experienced greater tourism numbers during this same time period.
