The CCU Chants continued their dominant early season by beating William and Mary 40 to 21 last night. From the kickoff, the game was never really in question.
Chants running back Christian Washington scored two touchdowns and Coastal Carolina built a 20-point advantage at halftime over William & Mary.
Washington scored two short touchdowns in the first half, leading the Chanticleers to a 27-7 advantage at halftime.
Chants dominate
Coastal Carolina (2-0) had a strong performance from Washington, who gained 100 yards on 16 carries. Kade Hensley also had an impressive game, converting four out of five field-goal attempts, including a career-tying 49-yarder. Additionally, Matthew McDoom made a significant impact by returning a fumble 24 yards, extending Coastal Carolina’s lead by 30 points in the early second half.
The Chants (2-0) saw Ethan Vasko’s passing game reach a total of 160 yards.
Darius Wilson, the quarterback for William and Mary, passed for a total of 165 yards. This included a remarkable 62-yard touchdown to DreSean Kendrick. The Tribe, who are currently ranked 14th in the FCS coaches poll, now hold a 1-1 record.

Clemson hosted Appalachian State in the first game of the year in Death Valley, seeking to rebound from last weekโs drubbing at the hands of Georgia. I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive owing to the Mountaineersโ reputation for slaying big-time teams. The Tigers steamrolled the Mountaineers 66-20.
James Madison beat Gardner-Webb 13 to 6.
The Louisianna-Laffayette Ragin Cajuns beat Kennesaw State 34 to 10.
Arkansas State beat Tulsa 28 to 24.
Except for Appalachian State, all the mentioned teams are undefeated in Sun Belt Conference play.
