CHARLOTTE, NC (Wednesday, June 30, 2021)– Charlotte FC today announced a nationwide search for a Chief Fan Officer, a new position for the Club, whose primary responsibility will be to foster and maintain a direct relationship with fans to ensure they are engaged and supported. The Chief Fan Officer will also play an integral role in helping build Charlotte FC’s brand and fan base until the team’s debut in 2022 and beyond. The search will be supported by Ally as a part of their commitment to be an ally for soccer fans.

“We are committed to assembling an excellent product on the field in our first year, and our focus is on cultivating an avid fan base and serving as an integral member of the Carolinas and Charlotte community from the get-go. The Supporters’ Groups are the heartbeat of every soccer club, and the Chief Fan Officer will strive to build a lasting relationship between fans and Charlotte FC. Now is the perfect time to further engage our fans,” said the President of Charlotte FC Nick Kelly.

“This position is unlike any other across MLS and all professional sports in the U.S. – it will require a uniquely qualified candidate. We are looking for an individual with a passion for soccer who is a skilled communicator and has a strong work ethic. This person will have the creativity to bring the fan experience to life on match day. Charlotte and the Carolinas have a tremendous passion for sports, and we look forward to working with Ally on this search for the team– and putting other clubs and fan bases on notice.”

Reporting directly to the team president, the Chief Fan Officer role offers a comprehensive compensation package, including a competitive salary, access to a Club vehicle and per diem for various community initiatives – such as traveling to 2021 MLS matches to gain intel and report insights in addition to attending the Club’s away matches with supporters in 2022 and beyond.

The primary responsibilities for the Chief Fan Officer include:
• Serve as liaison for Charlotte FC supporters’ council and all fans within the Carolinas and beyond.
• Drive awareness, viewership, and the cultural conversation around the inaugural season.
• Be the voice of the fans; facilitate and strengthen the relationship between fans and the front office through regular meetings with club executives.
• Contribute to creative development and multiplatform fan marketing which elevates brand perception, cultural connection, and fan engagement.

Applications will be accepted from now until 11:59 p.m. ET on July 30. From there, the candidate pool will be narrowed and selected applicants will participate in a virtual interview and multimedia submission. Subsequently, the final round will feature in-person interviews with key stakeholders in Charlotte. The summerlong search will culminate in September with an introductory press conference with the Chief Fan Officer, Ally and Club officials.
