City of MB Hires Kathy J. Berlinghoff As Human Resource Director

  The City of Myrtle Beach welcomes Kathleen “Kathy” J. Berlinghoff as human resources director.  The position works alongside and supports more than 900 full-time and 150 part-time city employees.  The Human Resources Department is responsible for recruiting, onboarding, compensation, employee relations and employee recognition. 

Berlinghoff comes to Myrtle Beach from UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, North Carolina, where she served as human resources director since 2018.  Her previous posts included director of human resources and learning for Appalachian Regional Healthcare System (Boone, North Carolina), vice president of human resources for Pikeville Medical Center (Pikeville, Kentucky) and Associate Administrator of Sharon Hospital (Sharon, Connecticut).

“We are excited that Kathy brings her leadership skills and her ability to form strong, collaborative relationships to our team,” said City Manager Jonathan “Fox” Simons, Jr.  “Her extensive experience with sizable healthcare organizations makes her the perfect fit for the City of Myrtle Beach.”

Berlinghoff offers expertise in the areas of talent acquisition, workforce development, work process redesign and employee relations.   Her noteworthy professional successes include compensation and benefits optimization, organization-wide turnover reduction and enhanced recruitment efforts.

Kathy earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration on Human Resources from Marist College and a Master of Science in Management from the University of Phoenix.
