The City of Myrtle Beach, which owns the convention center building and the hotel land, is listed as a defendant in the case as well.

The complaint reads: On May 2, Daniel Jr. was bitten by bed bugs in his room while he slept. The bed bugs were found in the mattress, the carpet and the bedding.

Daniel then notified management about the situation. His stay was from May 2 to 5, 2022.

Daniel hired Trevor Eddy, a lawyer based out of Columbia who specializes in bed bug infestation cases and hotel cases. Eddy filed the complaint this past week.

The complaint lists the following causes of action and requests legal remedies: Mr. Daniel seeks judicial relief, to include negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, premises liability, breach of contract, and unfair trade practices.

As a result of the incident, Daniel Jr.’s injuries caused him to incur medical expenses, as well as physical, mental and emotional pain, the filing states.
