Clark Parker, accountant running for County Auditor, owes back taxes

UPDATE: Mr. Parker paid these taxes online Sunday, August 18, 2019 – One day after our article was published. He has yet to speak with MyrtleBeachSC news personally. We did trade voicemail.

A 65-year-old accountant, Clark Parker announced the launch of his campaign for Horry County Auditor outside the old Horry County Courthouse yesterday.

According to the accountant’s website: Clark B. Parker CPA has been practicing accounting for the past 33 years. He graduated from Coastal Carolina in 1977 and served as a member and chairman of the Board of Trustees at Coastal Carolina University for two years. He is an active member of the Gideon’s International, currently serving as the Regional Field Officer with assignments to Albania and Kosovo.  Mr. Parker, currently serving as Treasurer, was one of the original founders of the Friendship Medical Clinic. Clark has also been a very active member of the South Carolina Tax Council, where he served as past President, and is currently serving as the Program Director for CPE (Continuing Professional Education) for the state of South Carolina.

A cursory look at Horry County records shows Mr. Clark owes back taxes as far back as 2012. The total outstanding in taxes equals $425.42.

While that is a small sum, the position Clark Parker is campaigning for demands attention to detail.

From 2017 $298.67
2018 – $79.53
2012 – $47.22
