Early voting has already begun in Horry County.
State polling shows incumbent S.C. U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham and Democratic challenger Jaime Harrison in a tie state-wide.
Unofficial, internal polling purchased by MyrtleBeachSC News shows Graham and Harrison are statistically tied among voters in Carolina Forest, as well. With 40,000 residents, Carolina Forest is the largest community in Horry County.
Historically, the community does not show up at the polls for local elections. Indications are that Carolina Forest will turn out for this national election, however.
NEITHER FISH NOR FOWL
The problem for Graham is his longstanding, inconsistent voting record. He was labeled a “maverick” during his Gang Of Eight participation era. Graham, following the lead of now deceased John McCain a few years past, took positions and votes that offended most hard core S.C. conservatives.
The term “maverick” was the mainstream media’s way of avoiding the phrase RINO (Republican In Name Only) when defining Graham during that period. The mainstream media delighted in those more left leaning positions.
A SHARP TURN
Graham has made a sharp turn in the recent past, fully endorsing all things President Donald Trump.
President Trump is adored in every corner of Horry County. The President will likely carry Horry County in a landslide.
WHAT GRAHAM NEEDS
What Graham needs are campaign opportunities in S.C. with the President. Sadly, this need comes at a time when President Trump has just been diagnosed with Covid 19.
However, the President is fighting back, tweeting yesterday:
I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!

While this infuriated the left, President Trump’s tweet emboldened conservatives in S.C.
A Harrison Win
In our opinion, a Harrison win would be a disaster for the State of S.C. and the nation.
Let’s hope Lindsey can find some way to win.
