As we reported in June, a barricade was placed at the end of a private road in Deerfield Plantation. This barricade kept all residents west of a private road, Colony Drive, from getting mail and getting to Highway 17 Business.

The true owners of the private road stated in writing to homeowners that they had no intentions of closing the road.

The private road was closed by a group of Home Owners Associations. These groups did not own the road, however.

BARRICADE REMOVED BY DEERFIELD RESIDENTS

As MyrtleBeachSC News reports, residents of this community came together. These residents physically tore down the barricade.

As of this publication, the road remains open.

A series of terse emails were sent to select homeowners from Horry County Councilman Gary Loftus.

Loftus’ term expires in 2024. These homeowners have agreed to show up for the June 2024 primaries in mass.

Loftus is a well known friend to local developers. Neither he, nor Horry County, are willing to accept responsibility for the road nor the ongoing damages to the road created by Lennar Homes’ construction trucks.
