Nautilus CC Plus: No Fuss Setup

Maytronics has been a leader in the ratings for a very long time. Its Dolphin robots are remarkably easy to set up. Nautilus CC Plus, in particular, arrives at your doorstep in a box about the size of a small refrigerator. The box is divided into two main sections, one for the cleaner and the accessories. Everything is clearly labeled, and you’ll find that the entire setup process can be completed in about 30 minutes. The Nautilus CC Plus has everything you need to start cleaning.

The only step you need to do is program the bot’s cleaning schedule. You can choose between numbers 1, 2, and 3, corresponding to daily, every other day, or twice a week. This is a big plus since once you set up the cleaning schedule, you can leave it in the pool. Its automatic shutdown feature will turn off the bot after cleaning, so you don’t have to worry about it running for too long.

Nautilus CC Plus Design: Gorgeous and Functional

The blue and black I not an eye soar while it is in the pool. It weighs roughly 20 pounds, more or less similar to its competitors. Even so, the sleek design makes it appear lighter.

The chassis is made from plastic and has soft, flexible scrubbing rollers at the bottom. The power source is around one-quarter the device’s size and is always kept out of the water.

A polystyrene “buoy” placed inside the device aids in its flotation. A huge handle above makes it incredibly simple to navigate the bot to and from the pool and pull it out. The gadget is connected to a 60-foot-long, robust blue wire with a swivel capability to avoid tangling and allow the device to effortlessly roam the pool.

Nautilus CC Plus Performance: Excellent in Removing Dirt

Other inground pool cleaners can clean grit and grime from the pool surface, but this also serves as a vacuum as it sucks the dirt simultaneously. This means the Nautilus CC Plus removes the dirt, algae, and grit that settles on the bottom and sides better. Unlike other models, the Nautilus CC Plus has a unique scrubbing system that only clings and scrubs the pool walls (to a certain extent) and floors. The scrubbers are made from a unique material that grabs the pool surfaces. It intelligently uses the water flow for cleaning to complete the task more effectively and fast.

The CC Plus model can clean a pool up to 60 feet long. It has complete accessories to clean any pool type, shape, and surface. However, the bot cannot climb higher than 3x its height. It cannot clean higher parts of the wall, including the water line- the dirtiest part of the pool.

Another downside is that the bot has only one standard filter. It doesn’t have the option to take in bigger debris like leaves, twigs, and dead insects. The Nautilus CC Plus is not for you if your pool is surrounded by trees.

Nautilus CC Plus Navigation: Goes Around with Ease

The Nautilus Plus employs CleverClean technology that scans and maps out the whole pool, allowing it to create the best route to scour every surface. It’s also programmed to recognize and avoid collisions; it travels past anything in its path before returning to its track.

A “Multi-Function Power Supply” is an energy-saving feature that costs only around 15 cents for each cleaning. It saves energy by charting the best path to go around the pool. The bot turns itself off after the entire pool has been cleaned. The device may be left plugged in, provided it is not switched on when it’s not in use.

Nautilus CC Plus Use and Maintenance: Simple

Having a backyard swimming pool can take some time for maintenance. However, this device outperforms many competitors, which feature smaller, less powerful filters.  Also, some models frequently need you to turn over the bulky and oddly designed machines to access the filter gates, making cleaning the filters more difficult. With Nautilus CC Plus, you can easily remove the filter hatch at the bot’s top part.

Rinsing and changing the filter is also a breeze. Simply open the filter container, slide it out, and run it through the hose. Once cleaned, place it back inside the chamber.

This model takes no maintenance other than storing it out of direct sunlight and rain. This is important, especially for the power supply, which is not waterproof. This part must be kept out of the water for extended use.  During use, the power source should be shaded to avoid overheating.

Swimming while the unit runs or keeping it in the water while pool chemicals are added. This is not suggested since they might damage the unit. The bot may be left in the pool between use and set to clean regularly. If you don’t like swimming with wires around, you can always pull it out and store it nicely.

Final Verdict

If cleaning the water line and tile line is important to you, then pass on this robot. If picking up large amounts of leaves is essential to you, then it’s a no-go.

It’s popular for a reason. It’s dependable and great on pool floors but doesn’t deliver performance like the premium units that cost marginally more. Plus, the two-and-a-half-year warranty may not work for you, as many brands have a 3-year warranty.

In our opinion, you’d be better off investing a few hundred dollars more in a cleaner that improves the key features of the CC Plus, like the Dolphin Sigma or Dolphin Premier. These models are way more precise in coverage, have more filtration options, more power to clean the water line, and a better warranty.
