The board of directors for the college university change organization Turning Point USA has elected Erika Kirk as the new CEO and chairperson, as announced in a post on the group’s official X account.

The choice comes after earlier private discussions where leader Charlie Kirk allegedly indicated his wish for Erika Kirk to take on those responsibilities should he pass away.

Last week, Charlie Kirk, a co-founder of Turning Point USA aimed at mobilizing young voters for Republican initiatives, was killed on a college campus in Utah.

The election of his widow occurs as the organization concentrates on mobilizing young voters for the congressional midterm elections next year.

Charlie prepared all of us for a moment like this one. He worked tirelessly to ensure Turning Point USA was built to survive even the greatest tests. And now, it is our great pride to announce Erika Kirk as the new CEO and Chair of the Board for Turning Point USA,” the board announced.

Tyler Robinson, 22, is alleged to have discharged a single rifle shot from a rooftop, resulting in the death of 31-year-old Kirk during a campus event at Utah Valley University on September 10.
