The arrest warrant of Evany McCray indicates that he confessed to Myrtle Beach Police as the shooter in the altercation that resulted in the death of Grayson Meyers, an 18-year-old, at Peaches Corner on Ocean Boulevard.
Evany McCray, aged 17, is charged with several offenses, including murder, related to a shooting that occurred at 11:15 p.m. Friday evening at Peaches Corner on North Ocean Boulevard in the 900 Block.
Myrtle Beach law enforcement reported that a shooting occurred within Peaches Corner when Evany McCray, an employee, discharged a firearm following a dispute with Meyers.
Understanding the Incident Involving Evany McCray
Another individual was injured in the shooting incident, but is anticipated to recover. According to the warrants, the injured party was walking across the intersection of 9th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard when a stray bullet penetrated the restaurant window, striking the individual in their right leg.
Evany McCray, aged 17, is facing trial as an adult.
MyrtleBeachSC News scoured social media seeking a background history on McCray. We found little to nothing of his history. The details were either scrubbed or there is nothing to report.
McCray was at his place of work, where he was earning Summer pay.
It is unclear if McCray and Meyers knew one another or had a past history.
Reports are still being received by our news outlet indicating that Meyers displayed a firearm before he was shot. Myrtle Beach Police are unable to confirm or deny these allegations at this time as it is part of an ongoing investigation.
