Dione Eban Buonto is accused of embezzling more than $100,000 from the Boys and Girls Club of Myrtle Beach, according to the indictments.
Charges were brought against the former executive director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Myrtle Beach by S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson.
Today, a Grand Jury indicted the former C.E.O. in Horry County.
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson said Wednesday that Dione Eban Buonto is accused of embezzling more than $100,000 from the Boys and Girls Club, according to the indictments.
Buonto was fired from the position April 2020, when the investigation first came to light.
Documents state Buonto allegedly used the money from December 2014 through January 2020 on personal items such as hair and beauty products, home decor, moving expenses, tuition and books for her son.
The money was also used for personal travel expenses for herself, her daughter and son along with a male acquaintance and his mother.
Buonto made headlines several years past as she chose to have a sexual relationship with a sitting City of Myrtle Beach councilman, while accepting thousands in Atax dollars from the City of Myrtle Beach on behalf of the Boys and Girls Club.
