Governor Haley Vetoes Corrupt Tax

LOCALS AND TOURISTS THRILLED!

It was a move certain to make 15 million annual Myrtle Beach vacationers thrilled.  On Friday, Governor Nikki Haley vetoed an extension of a S.C. Senate and House approved $30 million annual tourist tax.  The name Tourist Tax is highly misleading, however, as locals pay heavily into this tax.  The tax has been unpopular.  Most locals believe the tax has encouraged state-wide greed and political corruption.  Locals blame the past seven years of heavy handed city government on the tax as well.

Governor Haley posted on her Facebook page, “I have vetoed H.5011 passed by both the House and Senate because it allows local governments to increase taxes on citizens without a public vote.

Tax Vetoed

The tax is set to expire in 2019.  This past February 25th, however  Senators Hembree, Rankin and Cleary quietly put forth a measure to have the tax extended to 2029.  The tax has never grown tourism numbers,  despite the promotions put out by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

The tax has lead to  Myrtle Beach political corruption.  It has also lead to international shady insider deals that may cost Myrtle Beach residents billions.

The makings of this heavy handed city government can 100% be traced back to the beginnings of the passing of this 1% local option tax,”  said members of the Myrtle Beach Area Resident’s Rights movement.   “We asked her to veto it and she showed great character in doing so.  We will be closely following the votes of every elected official.  If they attempt to override this veto,  we plan to respond at the ballot box.

News of the veto was not covered by any local Myrtle Beach media outlet.   Every major TV station in our area are insiders on the tax scheme.  There has also been no news coverage to date on the state-wide corruption case most believe to have connections to this tax.

Local residents agree that this tax and this heavy handed government need to end.

If you want to help end this tax,  below are a list of congressmen you can call along with a few key senators.
