Sandra Martin, Director of the Horry County Registration and Elections Commission, sent a formal letter to the Surfside Beach town council requesting that the city move its future election dates to the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of odd numbered years.  The letter states that the State Election Commission is pushing the S.C. legislature to make it manditory for all city elections to be held on the same day across the state.

The date change requested would make Tuesday, November 5th the official date for Surfside Beach’s next cycle of elections which include the election for the office of Mayor.

Surfside Beach most recently held an election for three council seats this month.  A run-off this past Tuesday was decided with Debbie Scoles winning.  Other candidates elected this April included David Pellegrino and Bruce Dietrich.
