The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce promised councilmen who voted against their strong-armed agenda that they would see a primary challenger.
MBACC kept its promise.
Harold Worely has been the strongest advocate for residents’ rights in Horry County for decades.
He grew up as the son of a sharecropper. As a young boy Harold worked in the fields with his Father and watched his Mother raise a large family by carefully planning and using the family’s money wisely. Along the way he learned the valuable lessons of hard work and financial responsibility.
Worely graduated from Wampee/Little River High School in 1968.
HELPED LAUNCH A SUCCESSFUL NMB CHAMBER
Harold leads our local community by supporting the local chambers of commerce, serving on various boards and offering help and support to many local charities and organizations. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach. In July of 1999, at the urging of several local business owners, Harold founded the now thriving North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitors Bureau, serving as its first Chairman of the Board of Directors. His business remains an active member of the chamber, supporting its many activities.
THEN WHY IS THE MYRTLE BEACH AREA CHAMBER Of COMMERCE PRIMARYING HIM?
It’s as simple as this. Harold refused to put the MBACC single road agenda ahead of the needs of Horry County residents.
Horry County needs a comprehensive road concept that will work for all Horry County residents. The half baked I-73 agenda will only create greater congestion on already jammed secondary roads across the county.
Harold Worely supports wise planning. A comprehensive road concept should include I-73, but the State and Federal governments must step up to the plate to cover needed funding for that Interstate.
The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce Candidate
It is no secret that Construction Magnate, area developer, and MBACC advocate Benjy Hardee shopped for a candidate to run against Worely. Benji earns a considerable amount of his annual revenues in millions from government contracts for paving highways.
Jenna Dukes’ candidacy is where MBACC is putting their hopes on restoring the dominance the $51 million annually tax funded “not for profit” once held on local politics.
