Are you living your life to the fullest? Most people don’t think about whether they are living life to the fullest, they’re just existing. Getting from paycheck to paycheck, paying the bills, working for hours and then collapsing into bed. That’s the ‘dream’ sold to us from a young age: get a degree, get a job, get a house, get married, have a few kids, have grandkids, retire, die. And that’s your lot. People tell us how we should be existing from day to day to get to the next slice of life, but no one really explains how you can live your life to the fullest.

It’s not usually until you have something happen to you that you see a way to live life in a bigger, better way. It’s not until you start looking at how long can you live with a heart transplant, or how long you can live with stage four cancer that you suddenly realize what you’ve been wasting your time on. All of the stuff you’ve been doing might not have actually been fulfilling you, or helping you to get to the things that you really want in life. In fact, there is every chance that you haven’t been really living at all, and all this time you’ve just been moving between the next thing and the next. You need to make sure that you are living your life to the fullest, and not living just for the next paycheck to clear. If you’re not making it between months, there has to be a change because the thing is, there is much more to life than just existing until the next event. Below, we’ve got some of the best things that you can do to ensure that you are living your best life every single day.

  1. You need goals. Call it a bucket list, call it a purpose list – whatever you want to call it, you need one. Those small mini goals you have in your life need to fill you with purpose, and you need to be able to work towards it. It’s not a pathway, it’s a tree. It’s not a straight line, it’s peppered with branches to swing from. Your goal may seem big, but who says you can’t have big goals? As long as you can see your way from the bottom of the tree, through the branches to the views at the top, that’s all that really counts! Buy a notepad purely for your goals, and you’ll be more focused!
  2. Draw. To be able to visualize the life that you want for yourself, you need to draw it out. Get yourself a huge sheet of paper and write what you would like your life to look like. It can be from the simple goals to the ones that feel huge and yet are achievable for you. It’s going to look unique to you, and it’s something that will be a life changer for you as you can SEE what you want your life to be. Once you know what you want, start drawing in a new color to figure out how you can get each of the things on your drawing.
  3. Start considering your finances. One thing that you’ll need to get all the things that you want in life is money. Unfortunately, money offers opportunities, and you need it to get you from A to B and you need it to fund the life you want. So, the next step is to get yourself right about your finances and essentially get your ducks in a row. If your job isn’t paying you enough money, look at how you can do better with your career and up your finances as a result.
  4. Get to know what you’re good at. Everyone is good at something and a life lived to the fullest is one that is focused on a talent. If you work out what yours is, you can spend time honing it and making it a part of your day to day life. There is something out there that you can do better than anyone you know and once you know what it is, the world will be in awe of you.
  5. Start believing in yourself. A life lived to the fullest is packed with confidence. You have to believe that you can have whatever it is that you want, no matter what that is. Life is lived in moments and putting off those moments is how you start moving backwards.
