A gas pipeline will now be legally allowed to run from the general Florence area directly into the Grand Strand. (Myrtle Beach/North Myrtle Beach/Horry County area).

Dominion Energy can now legally install a massive pipeline known as the River Neck to Grand Strand 16-inch Gas Main, also known as the Pamplico Pipeline.

The Pamplico Pipeline legislation was spearheaded and championed by North Myrtle Beach District 104 SC Representative William Bailey.

“The South Carolina Supreme Court decision yesterday was much anticipated. Dominion Energy’s permits and easement access will bring much opportunity and have a significant economic impact not only on District 104 but on the entire Horry County. We are hopeful they will begin upgrading their system soon,” said Bailey.

Horry County is growing at approximately 24% annually. Such growth requires energy. The pipeline was held up in legal challenges by DHEC and the Coastal Conservation League. This Supreme Court ruling mutes that challenges moving forward.
