News came in over the past week that Horry County Assistant County Administrator for the Public Safety Division, Randy Webster, retired giving a two weeks’ notice.
Public Safety Division: A Pillar of Community Trust
The long standing Horry County employee was highly regarded and highly beloved by local residents. The public safety division is directly responsible for oversight of areas like the coroner’s office, as well as, Horry County police.
Following his extended time in the position, his two weeks’ notice led those within the organization to wonder about his health or other possible explanations for such a brief notice.
We asked Horry County Public Information Officer, Mikayla Moskov, Are there any plans scheduled to publicly recognize Randy’s time as he retires? A retirement party? Public recognition?
Horry County responded: No current plans. We understand that Randy has to focus on his health at this time.

CONWAY, SC — Horry County Government has selected Horry County Attorney David Jordan to serve as Interim Assistant County Administrator for the Public Safety Division.
Jordan was selected after Deputy County Administrator Randall Webster, whom also served as the head of the County Public Safety Division, announced his intent to retire due to ongoing medical concerns.
County Administrator Barry Spivey said Horry County Government’s mission will go on seamlessly:
“While we will certainly miss the knowledge and experience Randy brought to us, we know he has prepared this team to move forward with the important work we do each day. We have a group of strong, experienced leaders within our organization and our mission to serve the community continues as always.”
In the interim role, Jordan will be responsible for shepherding the County’s Public Safety Division Department Heads. Jordan will also maintain his role and responsibilities as County Attorney/General Counsel.
A nationwide hiring process for the Assistant County Administrator role will be launched and is expected to continue through the remainder of the year.
