District 34 S.C. Senator Stephen Goldfinch recently made statements to the media that simply do not add up.
Most incredible among these are that local residents are putting pressure on him to abandon his senate seat and run for either U.S. Congress in the 7th District, 15th Circuit Solicitor, or Lt. Governor.
Since those statements were made a few weeks past much has changed in Horry County.
In an email obtained by National File, Wrenzie Rice, the wife of U.S. Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC), described supporters of President Donald Trump as members of the “Trump cult” and likened the 45th President to genocidal dictator Adolf Hitler, one of the most evil villains in history.
WHY DOESN’T THIS HELP GOLDFINCH FOR U.S. 7th?
Goldfinch and Rice use the same campaign manager. One would think emails, like these, would lead to calls for Rice to step down.
However, should he, all locals know that the connections between Rice and Goldfinch exist.
CAN’T RAISE MONEY
Despite sending out a campaign fundraiser, sources tell us Goldfinch has only just over $40,000 in campaign funds. Those funds must be used for his S.C. Senate reelection effort. He would need a response from each donor to move those funds to another race. Such is a high political hill to climb.
Should Goldfinch enter that race, he would enter as the bottom tier candidate with no funding. An endorsement by Rice would be political suicide for Goldfinch.
15th Circuit Rallies Around Jimmy Richardson
Since Goldfinch sent out his trial balloon about a run for 15th Circuit Solicitor, former Solicitor Greg Hembree has hit the campaign trail hard for Richardson. Hembree is the current state senator from North Myrtle Beach.
It is clear that all local residents and politicians alike prefer Richardson to Goldfinch.
This is simply another uphill and impossible climb for Goldfinch.
JOHN WARREN DISMISSES GOLDFINCH
When yet another trial balloon was floated for Goldfinch as Lt. Governor, running alongside Greenville’s John Warren, Warren was quick to dismiss Goldfinch as a possible running mate.
When we ran our last article, many asked what the shot zebra photo was all about. In 2016, Goldfinch infamously went on an African Safari where he shot a wild zebra.
BAGGING POLITICAL BIG GAME
While it is clear from the photo that Goldfinch was proud of his kill, bagging a high profile political office seems out of reach for Goldfinch at this time.
Could Goldfinch’s future political career be as dead as the zebra he killed?
