Flanked by his high profile Attorney Butch Bowers, Mark Lazarus brought his appeal to the HCGOP.

Lazarus lost the June 28th primary runoff by 260 votes. Lazarus questioned absentee ballots sent in after 7 p.m. on the 28th. Lazarus asked the HCGOP for either a recount or another election entirely.

Lazarus had until Monday, July 4th to file his appeal by State Law. Lazarus filed his appeal on Tuesday, July 5th. When questioned, Attorney Butch Bowers stated that Lazarus filed in a timely fashion.

“In my professional, legal opinion, we filed timely,” said Bowers.

The HCGOP then voted to end the hearing by voting that Lazarus did not, in fact, file timely.

A nervous, and pensive Lazarus looked on while the HCGOP voted overwhelmingly to terminate his appeal.

The vote fell forty for terminating Lazarus’ appeal. Five voted to approve Lazarus’ request and look into further questions.

“The challenge to the motion by Mr. Lazarus is denied,” said Roger Slagle Chairman, HCGOP.

An embarrassed Lazarus immediately exited with his high powered attorney, Butch Bowers.
