Today, Charleston S.C. Democrat State Representative Elizabeth “Spencer” Wetmore blocked the bill for Equal and Shared Parenting at the exact moment the bill was being considered on the S.C. House floor.

The bill enjoys a total of 60 House sponsors, equally among Democrats and Republicans, including House Majority Leader Davey Hiott, Freedom Caucus Leader Adam Morgan, and House Minority Leader Todd Rutherford.

Spencer is Charleston, S.C. lawyer.

Trial Lawyers associations are not fond of the bill as it takes hundreds of millions of dollars out of the family court system. Those dollars are taken out of the pockets of struggling families and then go directly into the hands of family court lawyers and Guardian Ad Litems.

The bill also rectifies many of the injustices in the family court system that so many residents find frustrating.
