The Family Kingdom Amusement Park located at 300 South Ocean Blvd in Myrtle Beach, S.C. was purchased this week by local Myrtle Beach Sling Shot ride owner, Bill Prescott and investors.

Prescott, who owns other Myrtle Beach amusements, is also the registered agent for Broadway Amusement Rides, LLC. This group manages the ride attractions at Broadway at the Beach.

The 13 acre Family Kingdom amusement park has 37 rides for adults and children of all ages, including thrill rides, family rides, kiddie rides and go karts.

The park features the Swamp Fox wooden roller coaster. This nostalgic, “woodie” roller coaster has been a Myrtle Beach landmark since it opened in 1966. With 2,400 feet of all-wooden track, this ride takes visitors on a unique experience while treating them to an ocean view. According to the Roller Coaster Database (www.rcdb.com) there are only 115 operating wooden roller coasters in all of the United States.

The Family Kingdom was previously owned by the Ammons Family, who, at one time also owned the Sea Mist Resort.

Locals believe the South End of Myrtle Beach is in need of an upgrade. Many have confidence that Prescott and his company can rebrand the area.
