After going on a tirade concerning what he called a “fake poll” that he also falsely claimed was put out by candidate Brenda Bethune,  Mayor John Rhodes “no showed” on city residents who were expecting him to speak at a candidates’ forum September 20th, 2017.

A few minutes into the forum, it became apparent why Mr. Rhodes would choose not to attend.  The residents had much to say about the mayor and the way the city was being run.  Unfortunately for the mayor,  none of it was positive.

One resident demanded that the city either begin term limits or find some way to get the mayor out of office.  “He’s not doing his job,” she can be heard in the video just above.

Later in the day,  MyrtleBeachSC.com also received calls from Horry County Republican South Strand leader Randle Stevens stating some persons were claiming MyrtleBeachSC.com had stated we were putting on the scheduled October 15 debates.  MyrtleBeachSC.com has never made any such claims.

We received an email from Surfside City Councilman Stevens as follows:

THE  “Grand Strand Community Law Enforcement Appreciation Committee”  and  the  “SOUTH STRAND REPUBLICAN CLUB LLC”  HAVE AQUIRED  THE  “Myrtle Beach Recreation Complex”  located at  “Market Commons Area”  of the  “OLD MYRTLE  BEACH AIR BASE……..ON “SUNDAY , OCTOBER 15TH, 2017”   THE TWO GROUPS ABOVE WILL BE HOSTING  A PUBLIC DEBATE  OF THE  MYRTLE BEACH  CITY COUNCIL ELECTION !……….. We are working on a FORMAT where all the  Candidates for Council and Mayor will be able to attend. ……….The DEBATE will be Fair and Impartial……..We will be getting back to you with more details on the debate, as we plan and proceed.

While Mr. Stevens never expressed such,  one concern we have is that the Mayor and other incumbents will use this very falsehood as a reason for not attending those debates.

MyrtleBeachSC.com would like to address another falsehood concerning “FAKE NEWS” claims made by Myrtle Beach resident Steve Hauser

 NOT FAKE NEWS

Mr. Hauser claimed our video taken September 14th  was FAKE and our news was FAKE NEWS.  He claimed the video must have been shot at another time.

We took the opportunity to video the same swash today, September 20th.  Please take note Mr. Hauser,  SAME SWASH,  SAME LOOK AS ONE WEEK AGO!  We even left the audio in the background of over 150 people discussing the Fall elections so Mr. Hauser could note the place and time.

We hope this puts an end to all of the “Fake News” nonsense we continually hear from Myrtle Beach insiders.
