Just seeing this today after spending 4 days at the beach. My poor 7 year old is covered in a full body rash. They should’ve made this information more public. We’re headed to the doctor now to find out more information on what would’ve caused him to have a severe red and itchy rash.

Mrs. Davis, Our condolences. The Myrtle Beach Chamber just announced today that they intend to spend hundreds of thousands stating that we have no water quality issues. We have had strong rains this week. I will be certain to make our Mayor and the hotel community aware of this. Please message me at David@myrtlebeachsc.com and I will be certain to get you in touch with the appropriate legal community for assistance.

MyrtleBeachSC.com Thanks David for your reply. Our Pediatrician said that it is definately an allergic reaction to the ocean water. Liam now has to take a steriod and an antibiotic. I’m so disappointed! My friends and family love Myrtle Beach. We have plans to go back two more times this year, however this rash is making me reconsider. Hotels need to make consumers aware of the potential risks. We could have stayed out the water but still enjoyed the sea side.

The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber is working ongoing to destroy free speech, as well as, increase public safety health risks simultaneously.

Letter written today to Brad Dean,  CEO  Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce
Attention:  BRAD DEAN,  C.E.O. Myrtle Beach Area Chamber
ALL BOARD MEMBERS – Myrtle Beach Area Chamber

Dear Brad,

As we reported to the news media last week,  the city of Myrtle Beach now has several recent and past confirmed cases of tourists who have become sick from swimming in contaminated beach water inside the city of Myrtle Beach.   These reports continue to come in and will continue to come in throughout this 2016 season as the city of Myrtle Beach does continue to have areas inside the city limits that can suddenly spike with high levels of bacteria after a rain storm.  This is a well known and established fact.

As such,   we feel the current rash of videos your team is spreading across radio, TV, and media will certainly open up our town, hotel owners, Chamber Board Members, and this Chamber to risk and liability.  Your media broadcasts leave out critical details that will cause many to consciously ignore the DHEC NO SWIM ADVISORY WARNING SIGNS currently posted in 14 locations across beaches inside the city limits of Myrtle Beach.

111We have also noted a new FACEBOOK page found here: https://www.facebook.com/BoycottStupidity    [UPDATE 4/10 – This page was taken down after our report.  We wish to thank the LEGAL TEAM at FACEBOOK for their efforts in this matter]
We have spoken with the legal team at Facebook, as well as reported this page to Facebook technicians.  While we have not yet heard back from Case & White,  Facebook’s technicians tell us this page falls within the standards and acceptable practices of its guidelines.
With the more than $30 million your team receives every year in tax subsidies,  we were surprised that these tactics were the type of creative strategies your team would come to employ.

The Myrtle Beach Chamber has created an entire new form of community page.   One that does not invite actual people into a community,  but rather private messages members of our page when our fans LIKE, SHARE or COMMENT on items we have written on our very own Facebook pages.
We are informed you currently have over 30 different individual Facebook users doing the above so as not to draw attention to any one person.

The Myrtle Beach Chamber has created an entirely new form of Facebook page:  THE HARASSMENT PAGE

I am confident that this novel concept will catch on and work towards completely shutting down the entire design, form,  function and purpose of what Facebook was created and intended for.  This strategy certainly kills free speech.

I am informed by a S.C. Lawyer who is very familiar with all S.C. Chamber of Commerce operations,  that this matter is likely headed to a court room as illnesses and issues arise from this water quality concern over this long season ahead and how your team [and city government]  has handled this matter.
I have personally asked Case & White to remove the first community page put up by members of your team.

In closing I quote WhatsApp founder Jan Koum who wrote in a blog post just yesterday. “I grew up in the USSR during communist rule and the fact that people couldn’t speak freely is one of the reasons my family moved to the United States.”

I feel certain you believe the Chamber and the city have certain “ownership” rights that empower you to do so.

As a man whose family moved here in 1767,  I can say from personal history that no mortal person actually owns anything if he is required to die and leave it behind.   I tend to view mortals more as stewards than owners.

As stewards,  we can choose to sling mud,  or clean storm water runoff and hold those responsible for doing so accountable.   I hope those copied here will join with us in holding the elected leaders of Myrtle Beach accountable to providing the cleanest beaches possible as are exampled in North Myrtle Beach and throughout the rest of our fine state.
