Like the team at MyrtleBeachSC news, Johnny Gardner has lived in Horry County his entire life.  Like the owners and employees of MyrtleBeachSC news, Gardner’s family roots run generations deep as well.

Generations long locals have watched in dismay over the past 30 years as the stronghold of a few, elite insiders worked to gridlock our county.  The tourism lobby hijacked Horry County’s political process, monopolizing the attention of practically every elected official. Financial collusion caused many elected officials to work exclusively at the tourism lobby’s bidding.

Tourism is a great thing.  However, only about 5 key area families have majority say in that industry locally.  It has been unwise for Horry County elected officials to neglect important resident issues at the behest of these select few families.

Tomorrow could be a watershed day for Horry County.  Internals MyrtleBeachSC news has reviewed this weekend indicate that local voters have realized the importance of quality of life issues.  Local county workers are tired of being treated as second class citizens to tourism lobby cronies.

Firefighters, first responders, county police officers, and county employees have raised concerns about second class treatment and being called thugs.

Horry County needs a leader who will work for the county.  Johnny Gardner is that leader.  We no longer live in the Aristocratic South, where the first rights and first benefits belong only to a select few.

Johhny Gardner is the people’s candidate.  He embraces our new neighbors who have recently moved into our area. The wise infrastructure planning needed over the next few years requires a steady hand that is committed to residents first.

Horry County is moving from a primarily tourism based economy to a resident based economy.  Gardner was ahead of the curve on this one.  Johnny Gardner will put quality of life issues for locals as his highest priority if elected. Gardner knows that what is good for residents is also good for tourists.

MyrtleBeachSC news endorses Johnny Gardner for Horry County Council Chairman.

Please vote June 12th.
