The North Myrtle Beach community celebrated 25 years of the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce last night.
Cheryl Y. Kilday, President & CEO of the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce spoke with MyrtleBeachSC News pointing out the town’s strong sense of civic pride. Said Kilday, “There’s a lot of great business leaders and businesses that have made sure that we are always forging ahead, differentiating North Myrtle Beach from other coastal communities.”
She added, “And to claim that community pride, cooperation and coalition building that is required when you have a chamber of commerce and a tourism promotional organization.” She later stated, “We’ve got a good grounding in the community.”
Said North Myrtle Beach State Representative William Bailey, “I absolutely love the North Myrtle Beach Chamber. They do so much more than just help out with our tourism industry. Every time we have an event or need in the area, they come running to help out.”
Said Founding Member Rick Elliott or Elliott Realty, “The chamber has been an enormous success for North Myrtle Beach…. Our chamber is strong today because of the individuals who help build the people who helped build the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce.”
Elliott was quick to give local city residents full credit as being key in helping build the chamber. The sense of community, civic pride, and community inclusion in North Myrtle Beach is what sets this town apart from every other coastal town.

North Myrtle Beach Community versus a town clique
There are many area towns that feature a small clique of like minded leaders who provide controlling influence.
The North Myrtle Beach Community offers a true sense of connectedness. Students who graduate from North Myrtle Beach schools are prone to stay in the city, continuing a family tradition of leadership. Ben Clyburn, who operates Condo World and is involved in the NMB Chamber, is just one such example.
