RALEIGH, N.C. (September 23, 2025)  – In this digital age, it is important to be educated on cybersecurity issues and how to avoid online scams and threats. Pew Research Center found that nearly three-quarters of American adults have been victims of online scams or attacks. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has created an online resource full of tips and resources to strengthen cybersecurity knowledge.

Understanding Online Scams and Their Impact

“Our website has a page dedicated to most common scams and related tips, so the addition of one dedicated to cybersecurity was a natural next step. There is a plethora of valuable information and tips on topics such as passwords and how to be proactive,” Mallory Wojciechowski, President and CEO of BBB Serving Eastern Carolinas, said.

The new Cybersecurity HQ features five sections on its homepage to help with the basics, businesses, prevention, recovery and connecting with resources. Cybersecurity basics covers tips on creating a strong foundation for data protection and privacy. Meanwhile, cybersecurity for businesses has information focused on how to secure customer data, internal systems and the like. BBB’s prevention and recovery resources exist to help businesses and consumers alike figure out next steps in the event of a cybersecurity crisis.
