A shooting incident resulting in a fatality occurred at Peaches Corner on Friday night, leading to the arrest of a 17-year-old worker.

Understanding the Incident at Peaches Corner

Myrtle Beach Police Chief Amy Prock announced in a press briefing on Saturday that Evany McCray, a teenager from Conway, has been accused of causing the death. The identity of the victim remains undisclosed.

Local merchants, tourists and witnesses claim the deceased entered Peaches Corner brandishing a gun. In a press conference today with local media, MBPD would neither confirm nor deny those claims. Both the shooter and the deceased are males.

Peaches Corner
J’Aimee Lynn Ebert says person killed at Peaches Corner last night broke into her grandmother’s home in 2022 and pointed a gun at her 92 year old grandmother.

MBPD did confirm that McCray fired several shots. One of those shots killed the victim. Another shot struck another victim who was walking across the crosswalk just outside Peaches Corner.

That victim was taken to Grand Strand Hospital and is expected to recover.

Since April 26th, a series of shootings in Myrtle Beach has raised doubts about whether the employee believed he was acting in self-defense.

It is unlawful for a minor to carry a gun.

Evany McCray had a bond hearing today where he was denied bond on assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. He is being tried as an adult.

For possession of a gun during the act of a violent crime, bond was set at $250,000.

He was also given $250,000 bond for carrying a weapon as a minor.

This incident continues to be investigated by the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
