CONWAY, SOUTH CAROLINA โ Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson announced that, on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, a Myrtle Beach man pleaded guilty before the start of his trial this week.
Saveyon Dean Scurry, 22, of Myrtle Beach, pleaded guilty Tuesday to armed robbery, strong-armed robbery, and trespassing before a jury was selected in his trial this week, said Anthony J. DiChiara, the assistant solicitor who prosecuted the case for the 15th Circuit Solicitorโs Office.
The Honorable Circuit Court Judge Jocelyn Newman presided over the hearing and sentenced Scurry to 10 years in prison for the armed robbery and strong-armed robbery charges. Both sentences will run concurrently and Scurry must serve at least 85 percent before he is eligible for supervised release.
Scurry was charged with armed robbery last month, while the strong-armed robbery charge occurred in August 2023, both happened in the Myrtle Beach area.

Jimmy Richardson, II hails from Aynor, South Carolina, where he was both born and raised. Elise Gasque Richardson is his mother, while the late Jimmy Arthur Richardson was his father.
Jimmy obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Arts from the University of South Carolina โ Coastal Campus in 1992. In 1997, he completed his studies at Regent University School of Law in Virginia and graduated.
Upon completing his legal education, he commenced his career as a Judicial Law Clerk under the supervision of the Honorable Circuit Court Judge Sidney T. Floyd. Subsequently, in 1998, he joined the Fifteenth Circuit Solicitorโs Office. As an Assistant Solicitor, he handled the prosecution of criminal cases across all divisions of the office, which include Family Court, Magistrate Court, and General Sessions Court. While serving in the General Sessions Division, he was responsible for prosecuting a diverse range of severe felony cases, such as murder, rape, burglary, armed robbery, and drug trafficking. Moreover, he provided valuable assistance in a murder case that resulted in the defendant receiving a death penalty sentence.
Jimmy was promoted to Chief Deputy Solicitor of the Fifteenth Circuit in January 2010. In December 2012, Governor Nikki Haley appointed him as Solicitor.
