Police in Myrtle Beach are investigating what residents say were terrifying encounters with strange door knockers at their front doors.
Max Alon said he was knocked on his door on Wednesday night by a couple he had never seen before. He reported that the man told him his girlfriend had lost her phone at the beach and that it is at Alon’s house.
“It doesn’t seem normal, so I wanted to know if someone else had experienced the same thing,” Alon said. “That’s when I posted.” Five or ten minutes after I got home, they knocked on my door. It looked like they were waiting outside to see who was awake.”
Then Alon turned around and went back into his house, saying he hadn’t been to the beach for over a week.

His Ring Doorbell caught the entire encounter, which he posted on social media, leaving him with a lot of questions.
A number of Grand Strand residents have experienced a similar situation, according to Alon.
“Thank God nothing happened. I was by myself so it was kind of uncomfortable,” Alon explained. “I have a two-year-old baby, the boy was not home. Next time I will not open the door.”
The Myrtle Beach police said they have received a few similar complaints from other residents.
Although police say they can’t identify what it is just yet, they confirm that this amounts to strange door knockers behavior and residents should be on the lookout.
