Former President Donald Trump has scheduled a March 12, 2022 rally to promote Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce insider Russell Fry. The pick was controversial from day one.
Many grass roots Trump supporters have protested and plan to continue protesting Fry’s endorsement. These grass roots protests raised concerns among many Trump insiders, like Trump spokesperson Taylor Budowich. Budowich is considering a future “stay away strategy” for Trump in controversial races.
The “stay away strategy,” as one aide described it, would involve Trump steering clear of states or districts where a confluence of factors — such as his popularity and the demographic makeup — could mean his presence might sabotage “grass roots” Republican chances. U.S. – S.C. Congressional District 7 is precisely one of those districts.
WHY NO FRY?
Horry County residents, like Drexel Drew, are putting these signs in their yards and office lots.
The signs can be seen practically everywhere. Why? Loris resident Drexel Drew believes that there really is no difference between Russell Fry and Tom Rice. Fry and Rice are each considered RINOs in Horry County. RINOs are republicans in name only. The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is best known for backing candidates who fall into the RINO category. The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce’s collective PACs fund both candidates equally.
A DIFFERENCE WITHOUT A DISTINCTION
Both Russell Fry and Tom Rice primarily represent the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and its political agenda.
RUSSELL FRY PRAISES WORK BY MYRTLE BEACH CHAMBER
Trump has endorsed Republican primary challengers and incumbents at national and statewide levels in Florida, Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Wyoming, Ohio, Alaska, Texas (Trump’s candidate lost) and several other states.
“Rallies serve a critical campaign purpose of educating voters on President Trump’s support of his endorsed candidates. However, in Virginia, Democrats from Terry McAuliffe to every outside group spent more than $30 million dollars ensuring every single voter knew that President Donald Trump endorsed Glenn Youngkin… and the MAGA voters turned out accordingly to elect Youngkin,” Trump’s current Spokesperson Taylor Budowich told CNN.
Horry County conservative voters have largely united behind long-time Horry County businessman Ken Richardson.
When the news of the Trump rally made headlines yesterday, one key Horry County resident told us he would be there protesting the Fry endorsement.
“I wish Trump would have just stayed the hell out of this one,” he stated off the record. Those sentiments are universally felt among grass roots conservatives here in Horry County.
TRUMP “ENDORSED CANDIDATE” LOSES IN TEXAS
Those same sentiments held true last July in North Texas. Voters in North Texas delivered an upset, picking GOP state Rep. Jake Ellzey to fill a vacant House seat over a candidate endorsed by former President Donald Trump.
In his victory speech, Rep. Jake Ellzey tried to downplay any tension and hinted at bright odds for the GOP.
“It’s essential that we get this right,” Ellzey said. “It’s essential that we do it as Americans united, instead of Americans divided; Republicans united instead of Republicans divided, so once we take back the House and Senate in ’22 and take back the White House in 2024, we take back our country.”
At the moment, grass roots voters in S.C. appear to be uniting around Richardson.
