Horry County residents continually face issues that include: over-development, coastal flooding, private agendas (I-73), TDF (tourist tax) monies not accounted for, local residents being taxed to fund a handful of coastal elites, intra-governmental funding wars, beach bacteria, poorly run government with horrible planning, and with most everything done just out of public view. Residents have all had enough!

County residents will put a stop to this circus in the coming months. Learn how we shut down the circus here: https://myrtlebeachsc.com/beach-coalition-donation

The drama continued in Horry County on Wednesday.

Councilman Johnny Vaught made a motion to call council into what S.C. attorney Jay Bender called illegal executive session interviews. Ten councilmen voted alongside him to shut down the pubic interview process for the new county administrative hire.

Former Horry County Chairman Mark Lazarus, former County Administrator Chris Eldridge, Current County Attorney Arrigo Carotti, and many current county councilman have clear ties to the coast.

Despite resident efforts to get accountable government, tax subsidized coastal insiders continue to work behind the scenes with ongoing push back to maintain the status quo. It is nothing more than a system of tax welfare for the entitled rich. The ongoing drama created along the coast and in the halls of County Council is non ending and an embarrassment to our residents. This drama, around issues as simple as hiring a County Administrator, keeps the status quo in place and a select, few elites in power.

This same drama perpetuates a cycle in which the will of over 300,000 county residents is circumvented by a handful of tax subsidized property managers who run the city of Myrtle Beach and collect over $55 million annually in tax welfare.

ENOUGH – We voted for change. Since you won’t change the system, we will.

Meanwhile Horry County residents continually face issues that include: over-development, coastal flooding, private agendas (I-73), TDF (tourist tax) monies not accounted for, local residents being taxed to help fund a handful of coastal elites, intra-governmental funding wars, beach bacteria, poorly run government with horrible planning, and with most everything done just out of public view. Residents have all had enough!

Working with the Beach Coalition, we will cut off these tax subsidized, politically powerful elites’ supply line and cut off their funding.

State, County, and City representatives consistently exclusively work primarily for them.

These coastal insiders own little of the product they rent oceanfront, however. Individually owned condo unit investors and time share owners are being soaked by the same local government working with this same group of insiders who circumvent the will of the electorate for their own private financial (tax funded) gain.

Tens of thousands of mail pieces going to Myrtle Beach Condo rental owners. These rental owners just got a 3 mil tax increase.

Working with matching funds from a nation-wide effort by the Beach Coalition, local residents can give here: https://myrtlebeachsc.com/beach-coalition-donation/.

We will be collecting monies equally from all 11 county districts, so these councilmen are aware that people in their district gave and are involved.

We will begin dropping untold mailings to these “out of state” homeowners who are harassed and plagued by this same government system with laws forcing them into relationships with coastal property managers. We will shut down these insider’s supply line and cut off both their revenue and their city’s revenue.

It is time the county put our foot down. It’s time we became as organized as they are.

Our combined goal is to immediately raise $200,000 and by GOD we will raise it.
