MyrtleBeachSC News does ask this one question: “What media source in Myrtle Beach is most responsible for holding Myrtle Beach officials accountable?”
After participating in the Mayoral debates on a Myrtle Beach Area Chamber Of Commerce subsidized TV station, WMBFnews, last night, Mayor John Rhodes spoke with the channel about what he felt one of the city’s top agenda items would be if he were re-elected.
DEFENDING OUR BEACH?
On air Mayor Rhodes stated, “I am tired of hearing of the chicken littles out there with all the crazy fake news… that they live in this area… that all they want to do is hurt this community. ”
“I am tired of hearing that we don’t have a great quality of life in this city.” Rhodes added.
While Mayor Rhodes did not address MyrtleBeachSC News directly on this forum, he has stated to residents in other forums that he considers our company a fake news source.
As to reporting Fake News, the owner of MyrtleBeachSC News has had his car tires slashed multiple times after we posted articles about certain issues in Myrtle Beach.
All four tires were slashed a second time after we wrote an article about ocean beach bacteria in 2016. Tacs were distributed across our home driveway and the windows were shot out of our office on Bob Grissom Parkway.
When MyrtleBeachSC.com began working with the Coastal Conservation League in reporting about Beach Bacteria Issues,
including the articles about a sick child and a lady who fell ill after swimming in the ocean,
DDOS attacks began occurring on our servers non stop, shutting down our websites. We have experienced over 23 such attacks in the past two years.
Brad Dean and the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber spent millions of tax-payer dollars stating Myrtle Beach had no water quality issues. Area news anchors, including Bob Juback of WBTW, parroted those same remarks with statements that included MyrtleBeachSC.com’s reporting was “not entirely true.” Juback never stated what was not entirely true, however.
MILLIONS OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS SPENT ON THESE HALF TRUTHS
Myrtle Beach elected officials including Councilman Randal Wallace and Mayor John Rhodes have attacked our coverage ongoing as FakeNews.
Non-elected officials that include MBACC President Brad Dean and City Manager John Pedersen have as well.
