Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach announced the birth of their very first penguin chick on social media this week.

Born October 7, Ripley’s Aquarium says the newest addition turned six weeks old on Wednesday. According to the social media post, the baby is being hand-raised by husbandry staff behind the scenes in the Penguin Nursery.

Staff say the chick will soon be able to waddle along with other penguins featured in the Penguin Playhouse.

Ripleys is located at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
