Allegations have been made by North Myrtle Beach entrepreneur H.G. Worley (Harold Worley Jr.) that SC Attorney General Alan Wilson tried to pressure him into accepting a plea bargain in the state’s lawsuit that accused the businessman of four incidents related to minor sexual misconduct.
The charges were filed by Meredith Worley, who was married to HG Worley at the time, following a developing relationship between Andrea Bauer and Meridith Worley.
Merideth Worely later divorced HG and then married Andre Bauer.
HG Worley alleges that the office of SC Attorney General Alan Wilson repeatedly postponed his trial date. This was seen as an attempt to pressure Worley into accepting a plea agreement.
If convicted, Worely could have been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
The plea agreement did not involve imprisonment; instead, it required attending a parenting course and being put on probation.
Worley states: Facing a non-negotiable sentence of 25 years to life loomed ahead if I didn’t agree to SC Attorney General Alan Wilson’s plea deal. Refusing would have led to immediate bond revocation upon conviction, followed by handcuffing and incarceration in the state prison system.
A Horry County jury found H.G. Worley Jr. innocent in just over 1 hour.
HG’s Facebook Post About SC Attorney General Alan Wilson last night:
SC Attorney General Alan Wilson and Andrea Bauer
Two Men. One Picture. A Whole Lot of Corruption.”
One’s married to my ex-wife.
The other tried to put me in prison.
Both are tied up in South Carolina’s dirtiest political corruption – And one of them wants to be your next Governor.
January 31, 2019 –
Former Lt. Governor Andre Bauer posted a picture to his social media with his buddy, SC Attorney General Alan Wilson. They called themselves “trailblazers” for the Republican Party. However, it highlights how deep their roots go.
If I would’ve been convicted, bond would have been immediately revoked, leading to handcuffs and incarceration in the state prison system. Go back and read that again… Did it sink in? How can Attorney General Wilson go from a Mandatory 25 years-to-life punishment to no jail time, a parenting class, and probation? What a disparity, right?
At the time, I was supposed to be on trial, fighting for my life. Yet, SC Attorney General Alan Wilson kept delaying, trying to pressure me into a plea deal. No jail, just a parenting class and probation. I was facing a MANDATORY 25 years-to-life sentence if I didn’t accept AG Wilson’s plea offer.
I told them No. Over and over and over again.
Then I see that picture in the feed of a man married to my ex-wife, liked by SC Attorney General Alan Wilson himself. Tell me that doesn’t look like a signal between old friends: We’ve got this. We’re going to take him down.
Now, Alan Wilson is the TOP COP in South Carolina. Is it appropriate for him to be the first to “like” Andre’s post, especially while he was trying to get me to break for a plea deal?
Was it meant to strike fear in me? You can decide, but I will never forget how it made me feel. Disgusted. While the average citizen likely didn’t know of the rampant corruption, I knew my case was as corrupt as it could be.
They didn’t want me in the courtroom to reveal the TRUTH. That would mean my ex-wife had to get on the stand. They did not want that. Even up until April 8, 2019, the state was reluctant to prosecute – instead wanting a deal, as my ex-wife didn’t want to publicly stand by her accusations against me.
Andre told her that I would plead and that I did not have the strength to stand in the face of the punishment.
I did not let it work that way for them. Everyone had to get on the stand. Even the kids, all while knowing I never ever have hurt them, or any child for that matter.
The JURY acquitted me on ALL charges. Keyword here, Jury. Not a corrupt AG making me bend to a plea that would have stained my good name. Because, that stain that they so desperately wanted and needed would not have allowed me to pursue a defamation suit against my ex-wife, now Andre’s wife.
Political power is being used like a weapon in this state. It poisons justice and destroys trust.
If it can happen to me, it can happen to you.
We cannot let SC Attorney General Alan Wilson become the next Governor of the state of South Carolina.
I’ve always tried to find the good in the bad. And here it is: it’s good – and liberating – to finally come forward about corruption that no one would have believed… unless this worldwide spotlight was not shining light on corruption in South Carolina.
The SC Attorney General Alan Wilson’s office is for the People. It should not be weaponized by Alan Wilson.
Not Alan Wilson to allow to be weaponized.
