Legislators Discuss S.C. Amendment With the Overton Report

Corey Allen of The Overton Report theovertonreport.substack.com interviews South Carolina Representatives Thomas Beach & Matt Leber about a new bill they have authored which would stop publicly owned facilities from holding explicit drag shows that allow children to attend, and would also make it a crime to bring a child to a drag show which is sexually inappropriate for children. With ratings systems in movies, video games, television and an FCC that regulates what is and is not appropriate for which age groups, only two questions remain: 1. Why hasn’t this already been done? 2. What kind of person would fight against a bill like this, and FOR the “right” to expose children to highly sexualized content in live performances?

This interview touches on what the actual intent of the bill is, how the language ensures it will not be used improperly to harm anyone of any lifestyle, and how to fight back against the inevitable gaslighting and misrepresentations which will be hurled your way for supporting this bill; dubbed The Defense Of Children’s Innocence Act.
