Columbia, SC (May 28, 2024) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation will temporarily close the Socastee Swing Bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway in Horry County for nighttime maintenance and repairs beginning Thursday, May 30. The bridge will be closed for roadway traffic starting at 8 p.m. and is anticipated to be reopened 6 a.m. Friday. Message boards will be in place to alert drivers of the closure. SCDOT asks drivers to use caution in the area during this time. As part of this closure, traffic will be detoured using SC 544. Please note that Dick Pond Road will be open to local traffic only, except the area of the Socastee Swing Bridge. A map of the detour can be found below. |
