Myrtle Beach Police are investigating after one person was injured in a shooting Monday morning.

Officers responded to the shooting around 11:20 a.m. in the 400 block of 76th Avenue North on Kings Highway, according to a spokesperson for the department.

The victim was transported to the hospital and is receiving treatment, officials said.

One person is detained but no further details have been released.

This area is known historically as one of the better areas in the City of Myrtle Beach. However, as crime increases, the problems associated with it continue to creep into the northern sections of what was a once crime free area.
