Smoke on the Beach BBQ Competition Returns to Myrtle Beach Easter Weekend-CANCELLED

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – March 8, 2023 – Smoke on the Beach, hosted by the Myrtle Beach Shrine Club, is an annual BBQ competition event returning April 7-8, 2023 at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion Park. THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER.

Sanctioned by the Southern BBQ Network (SBN), this free and family-friendly festival will include an Anything Butt Competition, BBQ Competition, live music from local band Southern Kind on the main stage, food trucks and vendors, a car show, activities for the kids, and so much more.

Friday, Apr. 7, 2023, 3-10 p.m. – Anything Butt Competition
The competition starts at 4 p.m. Competitors are responsible for all ingredients for the items prepared. Samples will be sold to attendees and winners will be chosen by the public and
announced during the awards ceremony on Saturday.

Saturday, Apr. 8, 2023, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. – BBQ Competition Judging will begin promptly at 11 a.m. Winners will be announced from the Main Stage at approximately 1:30 p.m. There will also be a car show during the event.

  • 3rd Place – $1,200
  • Grand Champion
  • $500 to winning team (in order to qualify,
  • you must participate in the rib competition)

Rib Competition (Additional Entry Fee of $50) 1st Place Only – Winner Takes All

Anything Butt Competition (People’s Choice)

  • 1st Place – $800
  • 2nd Place – $500
  • 3rd Place – $300

Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Myrtle Beach Shrine Club and are not tax deductible.

To register for the competition, download the application here. The cost is $200 per team with a $25 refundable clean-up fee after approved inspection. Entries are limited to the first 50 teams.

Vendor applications are $125 per space and can be downloaded here. Interested sponsors will have their company’s logo on the event banner that will also be displayed at all Myrtle Beach Shrine Club events throughout February 2024. The sponsorship form can be downloaded here.
