News Release 2020
Sonshine Recovery Ministries is a charity in the area, helping people who suffer from Substance Use Disorder in Horry and Georgetown Counties. Our mission is to show that an addict, any addict, can stop using, lose the desire to use and find a new way of life through Christ. We are based in Murrells Inlet, SC and run by a Pastor, Timothy Carter, and an Executive Director, Lissa Davis.
Sonshine Recovery Ministries, New Journey Radio and the City of Myrtle Beach have joined to bring the 3rd Annual Concert of Hope. The Concert of Hope is a fundraising event to bring hope to the addict who still suffers.
This is a two-day event scheduled for September 12th and 13th, 2020. The Concert of Hope is a weekend of Gospel Music, Testimonies, Advocacy for the person with Substance Use Disorder, and opportunities for a using addict to hear about recovery through Christ. The event will take place in Chapin Park, Myrtle Beach. We are providing speakers, singers and the gospel from 9 am โ 9 pm, Saturday and from noon โ 6 pm on Sunday.
Last year this event lasted two days, in August and we helped 7 addicts make the decision to put the drugs down and fight the battle of recovery, two of whom were saved. Throughout the year, we have helped 65 people find recovery. With this yearโs event in a new location, we hope to help triple that number. However, if one, only one addict is saved, the value of a life is priceless.
A couple of weeks ago, we opened our Sonshine Recovery Ministries Thrift Store at 568 George Bishop Parkway, Myrtle Beach. We have housewares, furniture, toys, clothes, shoes and many more items for sale. Our hours are 9 โ 5, Monday through Saturday.
